Composite Material Day l June 4, 2019
International Digital Laboratory, WMG

The major objections to a wider use of composites across industries are the cost of the composite materials and the difficulties of engineering composite structures.
Advanced composites modelling and simulation tools and solutions are helping in making composites more affordable and more predictable. The affordability is achieved by enabling the engineer to work with the right amount of material and optimal mix of composites (from chopped to continuous fibers) and corresponding (automated) manufacturing process. The predictability can be reached by using multi-scale modelling technology to go down to the constituents for a more accurate assessment of the composite behaviour until failure.

e-Xstream engineering and Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG) are organising a full day event dedicated to composites, where you will learn how virtual engineering - with a special focus on advanced material modelling - can help you save valuable design and testing time and cost, while building lighter, better and safer products.

The event hosts best-in-class industry speakers presenting about key topics from the aerospace, automotive and additive manufacturing industries. It also offers a 2-hours Hands-On session on Digimat, the composite materials modelling technology. During the breaks you will have the opportunity to network with your industry peers, discuss with the speakers and visit the exhibition of partners and material suppliers. A guided tour of the Automotive Composites Research Centre at WMG will be organised during the day.

Registration is FREE but required from all attendees. Make sure you select the hands-on session and tour if you wish to join.

ParkingWe’ve reserved a parking space for you until 2pm when you come to visit us at the University of Warwick on June 4. You’re attending an event in International Digital Laboratory, WMG which is on
Central Campus. Here’s how to find your way to your parking space:

  • On arrival at the University of Warwick, follow the highway signs to Central Campus.
  • Once there, follow the “Reserved Visitor Parking” signs, to where your space is reserved. Ignore any “Central Campus Parking FULL” signs you see – they don’t apply to reserved visitors.
  • Drive to the entrance of the Car Park and speak to the Parking Attendant who will give you access to the reserved parking area. Your space will be on the top floor/level 3 of the Car Park.
  • Buy a ticket from the pay and display machine (coins only) and display it in your vehicle - £1.20 for up to 2 hours, £2.40 for up to 4 hours or £5 for all day.
  • The building is just a few minutes’ walk from the reserved visitor parking.
