Additive manufacturing (AM) can print complex parts for different microstructures compared to conventional manufacturing methods. Today's primary challenge is the design accuracy of the Additive Manufacturing parts. This paradigm, however, requires a dedicated tool for polymer/polymeric composites to be taken into account for the AM simulation, specific composite behaviour, tool path, etc.

Printing the part right for the first time is challenging.

With Digimat- AM, plastic parts are printed using the FFF/FDM and SLS printing technology.

Digimat-AM is used to simulate the process and minimize the warpage, residual stresses in components. AM material is a function of microstructure and contains the porosity; these material effects to the macro scale can be investigated deeply using the Digimat-FE and MF.

The part performance simulation can also be performed for AM printed parts using Digimat-RP by considering the process or toolpath effects.
