Analysis of Cold Roll Formed Products and Processes

Presented by: Martin English and Bac Nguyen, The Hadley Group

Bio: Martin English has worked at the Hadley Group since 2004, undertaking a 4-year Post Doctoral Research Project on cold roll forming tooling design. As Design and Development Manager, Martin was responsible for the introduction of Finite Element Analysis to The Hadley Group in 2010, starting with Copra FEA (Bespoke roll forming simulation software which utilizes the Marc solver and pre/post processor). In 2011, Marc and Patran were introduced to complement the roll forming software and to assist with product and process development.

Dr Bac Nguyen is The Hadley Group Analyst responsible for product and process development. Bac has 12 years experience using simulation software, including his time as a Research Fellow at Birmingham University. Bac joined the Hadley Group in 2009 to research a highly non-linear cold working process patented by The Hadley Group known as UltraSTEEL™. Following this project, Bac has used MSC software including Patran, Marc and Mentat to analyze a wide variety of complex products and processes, many examples of which will be presented in the upcoming webinar.

About this Webinar!
In the cold roll forming process, metal strip is passed through a consecutive series of forming rolls to gradually shape the metal into the desired profile. Simulation tools help analyze the process virtually, even before the tools are manufactured.

The webinar will include examples of simulation used within the cold roll forming industry including:

  • The cold roll forming process
  • The cutting of thin walled products
  • Buckling and Failure of thin walled products under bending and compression
  • Simulating the UltraSTEEL™ process and products
    • Simulation
    • Validation
  • Acoustic analysis of cold roll formed products within a system
  • Cold roll formed product development

Join this webinar to learn about:

  • Cold roll forming;
  • FEA for cold roll forming;
  • How to get better simulation results;

Who Should Attend?

  • CAE/FEA Analysts
  • Product Design Engineers
  • Manufacturing engineers
  • Engineering Managers

Following the webinar, you will be able to join in a live Q&A to have your specific questions answered.
